Even as an avid Apple user, it just comes off as either sheer incompetence or disingenuousness to hear Apple wax such poetic over compromised security from alternative store fronts when macOS is just sitting there, having been doing it fine for generations.
I’m almost expecting Apple to deliberately self-sabotage iOS in the EU somehow just to make a point.
I can see why your friend would assume you could hack their phone based on how specific these steps are.
FFVIII was the first mainline FF game I played after exposing myself to the franchise with Tactics. I was new to turn based systems, so I never picked up on the criticism. I was blown away by the presentation, fantasy and adventure of it all. The gunblade was about the coolest thing a kid of my age could have been exposed to at that time as well. Right now I’m big into VII for obvious reasons, but I really want to replay VIII.
I’m no fan of meta, but I’m so used to seeing “but the children” get thrown about as a power play that I’m actually less inclined to believe Meta did anything wrong. Or at least any worse than expected.
As someone who’s been using apple devices for a long time, this pretty much summarizes one of my biggest concerns with the APV. The other being expensive, proprietary, and software-locked lens inserts. (Basically creating a proprietary tax for people with poor vision who want to be involved with spacial computing, antithetical to Apple’s accessibility efforts.)
Can I just get a cheaper option that has no software whatsoever?
Jfc. The snowflakes here.
Yes, fuck Apple, sure. But tell your kids they don’t have to care. In the end it’s just a computer and any relationship that actually matters won’t teeter on which fucking app you use. If your kid is getting ostracized from a group ONLY because they don’t use iMessage, tell them they’ve found the wrong group and they’re worth way more than that. Real friends are more than willing to take a 2-second step and install a second chat app to accommodate friends who cannot use iMessage. There are more androids out there than iPhones anyway.
Corporations are not your friends. They will not take responsibility for your kids unless they’re forced or they decide they want to get paid for doing it. Your kids deserve to know how to navigate society despite this. Teach them.
Bro.
How about giving people the option to pay less for smaller portions? Is that not allowed for some reason? I’m a small guy, and every restaurant I visit in the west pretty much charges me double and gives me twice as much food as I could possibly handle. It sucks when traveling, because I can’t exactly just take it home.
Portal’s not so bad if you’re happy with just your PlayStation library and simply want something for your bedside stand.
I currently use a retroid pocket 3+ for almost only that purpose, and let me tell you, an 8 inch, 1080p screen + a full dualsense in my hands at night for just $200 seems like a really nice upgrade even if it means leaving my emulators on a different device.
(Too bad for Sony I’ll personally be spending a lot more to have a Steam Deck OLED though) (teehee)
I stay largely uninvolved with social media apps outside of this fediverse project, but why is it that bytedance must divest TikTok while meta is free to keep Facebook and Instagram? Aren’t the risks to mental health and security the same?
