I have noticed this around Lemmy and see some of these comments. As a left leaning redditor it is a similar turn off as the Digg beta.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I am extremely fatigued with the constant negativity
4·10 days agoI couldn’t agree more. Generally I’m only down on the world when I look at Reddit. It’s important to have a community of real people in rotation.
Moving to Lemmy helped because I only see what I subscribe to and there is no algorithm that is shoving politics in my face constantly.

Games@lemmy.world•Control Resonant - Story/Release Date Reveal TrailerEnglish
1·12 days agoThat’s what I thought but wasn’t sure. I don’t use epic games store but they have published games I’ve liked over the years. Happy to have AW2 and I just play it on PS5 and Series X. Not that huge of a deal but it did hurt its PC audience. Control seems pretty popular on Steam so I’m sure they can see the difference in sales numbers.

1·12 days agoYeah I’m pissed about it but Alan Wake Remastered and AW2 probably won’t ever come to Steam since it was published and at least partially funded by Epic.

2·12 days agoIt’s incredibly good. I would say it’s only niche on PC because of the epic exclusivity. If you like RE games, twin peaks, the first season of True Detective, Se7en, etc. you’ll love this game.
I have bought it a couple times for different platforms just because I love it so much.

Games@lemmy.world•Fable is delayed to Feb 2027 | via Wario64English
3·17 days agoWe knew this was going to happen. There was no way they released Fable (8 years in dev) to die in the same season as GTA6. As soon as GTA6 got delayed I knew this fable wouldn’t come out this year.

21·17 days agoThat’s awful. I wish valve would limit it to one per account and just be done with it.

24·18 days agoI’m not a scalper so idk what is normal, but I wouldn’t think it would be smart to buy something $300 over face value in an attempt to resell it for more? Especially hardware that is already long in the tooth internally. Aaaand from Valve who typically has consistently restocked these over time.
Idk though maybe there is a market for $1300 SD OLED resellers 🤷♂️
That is me with running. I feel like I could do a zone two run forever. Just such a refreshing activity.

8·19 days agoIt’s almost by design. Take personal computing away from the masses. Control what can be done and learned on a cloud device. More control over the masses with the benefit of a cloud computer subscription.

Technology@lemmy.world•Nvidia CEO Begs Execs to Stop Telling Workers They're Fired Because of AIEnglish
29·19 days agoI remember 10 years ago when he cosplayed the leather jacket cool guy gamer CEO. Dude has always been a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s gross and every time he refers to people as “humans” it makes my skin crawl.
This is why people should put CEOs in a pedestal. The Xbox fan base did that for years with Phil Spencer after the Matrick era. In the end that cool guy persona lead to a legacy of buying studios and shutting them down when they didn’t meet internal metrics. Xbox was left in a dire state with his departure same as it was when he entered.

11·19 days agoI just wanted to say, thank you for the write up! It’s people like you who make Lemmy worth scrolling through. Outside of my Steam Deck OLED I don’t know anything about emulation handhelds. Very interesting and I like that all metal one for GBA/GBC/SNES games.

News@lemmy.world•The Mandalorian and Grogu has lowest box office opening for a Star Wars film in Disney era
4·20 days agoGood, I hope it does terrible. The only way to get what you want out of a mega corp is by tanking their financials until they change.
Disney won’t change but I boycott them regardless.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Has there ever been an industry that's been "enshittified" and then un-"enshittified"?
3·21 days agoYes! Nursing really is having a resurgence. Pay is keeping up with cost of living in my area and travel contracts show promising wages in the areas I’m going next. Much better than it was 2019-2023. Those were some PTSD inducing years.

Technology@lemmy.world•China's new homegrown gaming GPU flops in performance and price — flagship $485 LX 7G100 can't keep pace with Nvidia's older RTX 4060English
2·21 days agoI do not buy products based on company morals. There is almost no publicly traded company that won’t sell the consumer out in a heartbeat.
If I bought components based on company good/bad I wouldn’t even be able to build a computer.
NVIDIA - Bad, Ai bubble, oligarchy AMD - Just as bad, Nvidia coat tail rider, oligarchy Intel - Bad, poor consumer practices for years Any company making RAM- bad, participates in price fixing and only get a slap on the wrist.
The only company on this planet I will blindly buy from is Costco. The CEO said “if you change the price of the $1.50 hotdog combo I’ll fucking kill you” - good
Otherwise I just buy what I need from where I can get it and move on with my life. Even avoiding Amazon is dumb since they make most of their money from AWS which means you’d have to boycott most of the internet.

I use Narwhal 2 for now. $5 a month is a small price to pay for the largest aggregation of information outside of Wikipedia.
Once they force the proprietary app on me I’ll likely be out. It’s a bloated cartoonish app.
I like Lemmy a lot but like people are saying it needs more users. I try and post my own content to practice what I preach.
