The tray is for water spills more than coffee spills. If water spills, it’s much less and not difficult to clean up. When it’s a coffee spill like this, it’s much more effort to clean up.

Also, I thought I was going to have coffee, but instead I had a mess.

I mean just make another coffee and leave that mess for future you. It cant get any worse. The bulk of it is in the drip tray which is for holding excess coffee. You’re winning like crazy dude

I don’t know. Future me is already pretty pissed about me forgetting to take lactaid.

I assume the tray is there because this isn’t the first time this has happened.

Originally the tray was there because I spill water when I’m refilling it, but it proved helpful in this case as well.

Been there, mate. I also would like to know how coffee gets onto the counter when pouring slowly from a carafe into a cup. Even more mysteriously, how is it that on rare occasions I come down to coffee between the carafe and burner without any apparent overflow or crack in the carafe? Coffee doesn’t obey the laws of physics.

I also have to be on a call with my boss and his boss in 45 minutes, and I have to take my daughter to school first and she is dragging ass getting out of bed. I might wind up having to pull over and take this meeting in my car.

Don’t feel bad. I did this once with a half carafe of coffee. Forgot to put the stupid carafe underneath before hitting the button and walking away. Suddenly my wife goes “wow, it really smells like coffee in here,” as I walk out to find it all over the counter and floor.

I like my coffee strong, and a few days ago I put too much in the filter so it went over the edge when it started brewing. That clogged the hole where it was supposed to run out through at the bottom, causing it all to flow over the side instead. From there it went to the front edge the table, and into all the drawers except the very bottom one.

I also don’t have a dishwasher… That was an annoying cleanup.

I woke up with my cats next to me, made an omelette, and just finished my coffee while listening to the CBC radio.

Today is shaping up to be a nice day.

Yeah. The tray underneath is really just to catch water spills, but it definitely came in handy today.

I’ve done it often with the machine at work, but I’m always nearby, so I catch it before it overflows the drip tray.

Yep. Started the machine and carried my breakfast out to my desk. Had to go back for something and thought, “something sounds wrong”, but it was almost finished.

I’m guessing, no cup was in place? I’ve had this be a hose failure and leaked through the machine. So. Much. Fun.

I was strolling near my house and someone was having anxiety on the sidewalk because it was exams day for her and she tripped on the sidewalk and her glasses fell into the storm drain. I dedicated almost half an hour to helping to get the glasses out. Then, after walking with her to ease the feeling a little, she was pressed on why she was late by the teachers, and she had to use me as a reason for it because (due to testing/teaching policy) they wouldn’t have accommodated to her unless it seemed blatant it wasn’t her fault. So I didn’t exactly start in a good place even though I wouldn’t have changed what I did.

    Glad to hear it.

I had a solid block of meetings this morning, but they’re over now. I made myself grilled cheese with tomato for lunch, so it’s turning out better than it started.
