But even as an example, it misses my point. Pretending I still have a job in that hypothetical scenario does not help me when I lose my job. Being aware of it gives me time to plan and respond

I’m not exactly sure. It seems that people understand that AI is a replacement for people and a technology of control, propaganda, surveillance, etc., that is, in short it is a threat.
Personally, I think AI is a threat, especially in the future. It will probably make us live in a fucking dystopia, because these psychos will not stop even if they destroy the planet. Power for the sake of power, for the sake of more power, in short.
Knowing this, do you think people can react positively to AI? In short, it’s fucking fascism.
Moreover, because of this nonsense, the middle class will begin to disappear, which could lead to techno-feudalism. So to speak there will be more cheap labor, or even better, just peasants.
