A common fascist tactic is dismissing your political opponents who strongly object to you and your tactics as “crazy” and “deranged”, as if sane people don’t mind what’s going on.
Also note that this Catsimatidis guy hosted Adams very recently at his (it’s ambiguously worded, idk) birthday, and reportedly further encouraged him to take orangeboi’s Saudi ambassadorship deal.
And then, this little gem from Cuomo:
“This is very simple: The Republicans want Mayor Mamdani at the end of the day. … Why? If Zohran Mamdani wins, they will pick him up and carry him around the country and kill Democrats with him. They will use him in the midterm elections. They will use him to run against the governor of New York. He is the perfect stooge for President Trump,” Cuomo told reporters. “There is no doubt about it. Everything else is baloney.”
Cuomo, for real dude, how fucking high are you? I really look forward to seeing him crash and burn in the general.
Cuomo is basically saying that the republicans will use mamdani as a scare tactic in other elections, like they’ll try and associate any Democratic candidate with him.
Which, he’s not wrong, they will bring him up constantly as a fear monger tactic, but, like, anyone who that works on was already going to vote republican? And the republicans have already been fear mongering about democrats being socialists and muslims regardless? Like, they did that to fucking Obama despite both accusations being categorically and obviously wrong? So like, it doesn’t really change anything.

Unlike the effect of electing a disgraced wealthy sexual sleeze or a disgraced corrupt cop. Yeah, the Muslim guy trying to make too many things free is really the outcome the Democrats should worry about being associated with.
If centrists had a Bland McBlanderson neoliberal in the race they could make this argument, but by some coincidence both of their avatars are toxic and since they worship pre-existing power structures they were unable to challenge them. I’m starting to think maybe it’s not progressives who are causing the image problem for the Democrats.
Is cuomo saying Mamdani will be so bad, they will point him out as an example, which will help them win elections? Or is he forgetting what his name is?

Yea he doesn’t have the self awareness to realize that meddling in NYC, the place that has been hating him since the 70s, is a fucking stupid idea.
I mean, more and more americans are realizing that we need to stop supporting politicians who only care about the wealthy.
Tax the wealthy even a small percentage, and EVERYONE in the US can have free healthcare or free childcare. The more people struggle, the more they will support a politician that will give them help.
Old school democrats have proven their faith to the oligarchs, and everyone has given up on MAGA/GOP as they are a lost cause and have no intention of helping the american people.
I’m down for more Mamdani’s in the future races.
