Here’s a photo of a drained canal in the UK which really highlights just how shallow they are.

If someone was pushed in, the worst thing that’d happen is them being mildly annoyed.

Makes you wonder what the true story is behind all those stories though, doesn’t it?

No because I know that head injuries exist. Look at the rocks at the bottom, those can easily knock someone out and the fall face down into the water.

You really seem to be pushing this agenda of you can’t drown in a small cannel but you are wrong and you need to stop.

Have you seen mudlarks in drained canals? Sucking mud, sometimes up to the knee. If you’re not getting stuck, you struggle to get footing and slip in regular shoes.

How slippery is it, exactly? And by struggle, how hard would it be for someone to stand up after falling in? Assuming the canal is 3-4 ft deep.

You can find videos of mudlarks in drained canals on YouTube. I can’t recall the names anymore as I stopped really enjoying the content, but there are videos out there.

I agree with what you’re getting at and i know which story you’re alluding to, but it was in Republic of Ireland rather than the UK. Their autonomy is important to them.

Also some canals are deeper than others, e.g one in a capital city like Dublin would be deeper than this countryside one because it woukd be designed to handle increased run-off from high urbanisation (tarmac and concrete are not permeable, et cetera).

Still - valid thoughts. Just need to work on the argument. Also, might be more effective presenting it to facebook or local people of that city rather than lemmy.

Does “fell out a window” mean assassinated and made to look like an accident?

Then isn’t OP just missing the humour? Isn’t it like saying a person died by stabbing themselves in the back?
