I have a pair of house clogs for downstairs use like when i’m cooking or doing anything that puts my feet at risk.
Otherwise no shoes upstairs, and I don’t wear shoes downstairs except see above.
Guests can wear shoes downstairs … but if they get to go upstairs (not likely) they have to remove their shoes. Service folks and contractors get an exemption.
But do you.
And gosh I had never noticed how complicated my house rules are on shoes.
Seems like a sensible approach. I prefer to wear shoes/sandals/clogs when cooking and standing for other stuff but should probably leave them downstairs. I might give this a try.
