If you can afford a private aircraft, you can afford to pay some fucking taxes.
So, there’s a bit of push back in the general aviation community to not equip their older planes with ADS-B capabilities due to cost. I’m not sure I agree that the cost is that prohibitive but I do think that equipping ALL planes with ADS-B is the best thing for safety, so I’m okay with whatever makes that happen.
If tying taxes to it means we’re more likely to enforce ADS-B for all aircraft, lets do it. If tying taxes to ADS-B is more likely to increase the push back from general aviation then I’d say lets hold off and find another way.
Return to the traditional tax of 90% of their gross earnings if they put ADB on.
Go to 99% if they leave it off.
