I mean it wasn’t eloquent by any means but it’s kinda clear he was trying to say “heavy ev batteries will cause your boat to sink, either electrocuting you or exposing you to waiting sharks”. Which of course if nonsense, but it isn’t really senile gibberish is it? He’s just trying to make ev seem like this evil thing “dems” are trying to force on “patriots.” Clunky for sure but it’s not like he’s just pulling random words out of the air.

It’s confabulation, which is what people do when they can’t actually say something meaningful but feel an urge to speak. It’s really common for people with mild to moderate cognitive impairment.

Which, as a non-American makes me wonder: what happens if this oaf is elected, but at some point turns out to be impaired to the point of non being able to hold the office anymore? Assuming the Republicans will ever acknowledge that, seeing how it feels like they’d support him even if he was swinging on the lamps while throwing faeces everywhere.

It has happened before–a former president was probably actually not fully cognizant and kept in hiding for a period of a year or so but his wife managed to fool Congress by sending letters in his name.

There are two options: the first is that the people around him act in his name, and the second is that the cabinet declares him disabled under the 25th amendment, and puts the vice president in charge.

I just asked if this article was being hyperbolic, I truly don’t understand how people are reading this as a defense of his statements.

Did you hear the portion of the speech immediately preceding the shark talk - he was glitching super hard and froze up on discussing military stuff. He only got into the shark battery talk because he couldn’t muster anything else.
