The correct tip is zero dollars for the absolute bare minimum legally required service every landlord I’ve had provides.

And a good chunk of the time, even that’s too high.

Most of them are skirting the law in some form or other. I’m probably gonna get my current landlord on implied warranty of habitability with their BS concerning mold inspections and pest control.

Lived at ny current place for 5 years, never had maintenance on anything. When shit breaks down I have to call. Live in the fucking desert in the summer and they were tryna tell me the AC wouldn’t be fixed for 2 days. The fuck am I paying rent for if I also have to pay to have the house and appliances serviced? Fucken bullshit.

Check with your local laws. Some of them will have it setup so you don’t have to pay rent if the basic amenities aren’t in service, and for a desert that should include AC

I’ll check next time. But thankfully my wife’s dad runs an AC business. had it fixed that day we just weren’t trying to mooch right off the bat and he is busy.

I’ve gotta say that lemmy is the only place I’ve ever even heard of the concept of tipping landlords and I flat out refuse to believe it exists

I never did figure out if that “loveforlandlords” subreddit was all meant to be ironic. I think it was a mixture of people clearly making insane things for the lulz, much like this meme, and actual landlords thinking, “YEAH! These people are right!”

IIRC that’s how /r/thedonald started, shitposting trolls slowly being crowded out by actual crazy people.

Idk if it’s true or not, but I heard the recent form of the flat earth movement started out as more of a “challenge and verify everything” movement. It wasn’t that they actually thought the earth was flat, that was just meant to be an example of how they were going to take even the most widely accepted theories and confirm their truth before believing them.

And then it attracted a lot of crazy people who actually thought the earth was flat, and completely changed the movement.

Cuck Chair is a slang term for a chair situated nearby and facing a bed, allowing for a cuckold to sit and watch their partner have sex with another person. Cuck chairs are often found in hotel rooms, inspiring the viral meme catchphrase, “Every Hotel Got the Cuck Chair.”

I’m over here threatening my landlord with a lawsuit for complete refusal to perform duties. It’s time to create a tenants rights community on lemmy

What country are you from? You don’t have any org that supports tenants? In germany a lot of people are in the Mieterbund who help you out with legal stuff when it comes to renting.

I live in California. I need to look up what’s available. Seriously doubt it’s going to be as good Germany though. But it’s time for me to do some fucking of my own

Mirror universe Thunberg, looking like Palpatine: “How dare you!”

Two opposed sci fi franchises, coupled with - I wanna say - a 2016… 2018 meme? That’s what I call a brainrot hat trick.
