If I give 100 fucks for climate change and 10 for Gaza, I barely give 1 fuck about deporting people. Until the Democrats focus on what’s actually important, I will not be supporting them
If you dont like what you see, that’s on you, not us. It’s your lemmy account. Take control, block them. Block me. Block .ml.
Don’t expect other people to change just for you lil special guy. Just like you shouldn’t expect people to vote for your preference.
This should be a competition on who can beat the Republicans the best, not blue conservatives vs leftists. That is… if beating Trump and the republicans is your highest priority. Is it?
If only it were that easy. Everyone knows you all have accounts in other instances.
Don’t expect other people to change just for you lil special guy. Just like you shouldn’t expect people to vote for your preference.
The irony in this statement is enough to stand on its own. There’s really no need to point it out any further, but it does beg the question:
Do you all seriously think we forgot the disruptive rhetoric you all posted leading up to the election? The incessant entitled demands that everyone vote for your untested, unproven, third party barely-above-zero-chance-to-win randoms?
This should be a competition on who can beat the Republicans the best
And it WAS. Or do you really think everyone was champing at the bit to be a part of that astounding 0% chance Shill Stein had of winning? You all had a chance to do exactly what you’re saying here- and the fact that you’re here saying this now considering how everything went down is a perfect example of why people blame you all for how things turned out.
“Democrats aren’t perfect so I’ll help get the worst possible option elected.”
Third parties aren’t going to save us because they have no chance of winning. It’s not his fault you can’t see that. Not facing the reality we live in doesn’t mean you’re not still a part of it.
“Democrats aren’t perfect so I’ll help get the worst possible option elected.”
It would be untrue to deny this, so I’ll instead say that Democrats and Republicans didn’t really campaign on different platforms. Like sure, there were some minor differences in climate and rights, but Claudia’s platform was amazing. Couldn’t pass up on supporting that
Shooting a dog is nothing compared to shooting a person, so it’s no problem if I shoot a dog.
This is the stupidest take I’ve ever fucking heard.
People don’t support hard progressives because they associate them with brain dead ideas like this. You’re part of the problem you hate. You’re just as bad as the fucking nazis because you’re helping their cause. And oh sure, it’s not bad now, but that’s what Germans said when those assholes were just starting to get moving.
Pull your head out of your ass and think in practicalities. Idealism should guide direction, but practicality should drive action towards that direction.
And I know this isn’t going to convince you. This is for the third parties reading this conversation. Don’t be like this asshole.
Edit: and fuck, if you didn’t now the term accelerationism before forming this kind of opinion, you truly have no fucking idea what you’re talking about. Go read some shit
Edit edit: and I think you still don’t understand what accelerationism means because it makes no sense in the context of climate change, which you’ve mentioned is a larger concern. Unless you’re making the assumption that at any arbitrary point climate change is reversible, which would also be blatantly uninformed. Fuck, I hope you’re not old enough to vote
Let’s say we’re approaching global warming at a rate of 10. Voting Republicans makes it go to 11, voting Democrats makes it go to 9.
I. Don’t. Care. if it’s the Republicans or Democrats who win. We need solidarity around saying “this isn’t good enough”, and we need people to vote third party until that happens.
You can sit there on moral high ground knowing you voted for Harris who would have been slightly better on climate, but we both know it won’t stop the collapse.
Oh you got solidarity alright. With the Trumpists, both malicious and uninformed, and the apathetic. In the end what you say about why you did it is immaterial, America is dead and your comrades and yourself gleefully killed it. You now want admiration for the murder. 🤮
Don’t worry, now that you’ve destroyed the United States you can do anything you want. As long as it involves bigotry, genocide, and continuing to tongue Republican rectum
There was an option to buy the planet some more time, and there was an option to burn up the time.
That time could have made all the difference, but now we’ll never know, because some silly goobers decided it was worth burning the planet to own the libs.
The point of accelerationism (imo) is to ignore these minor issues so they can bubble up until the root cause is addressed.
The root cause isn’t ICE, immigration policy or Trump, it’s global and national scale inequality where billionaires and mega corporations prevent wealth distribution and real change from happening. We need a party who is willing to nationalize corporations that break the law, delete the military budget, and make serious pushes for climate action the same way Trump is pushing Colombia to take back their immigrants.
Until we get that kind of change, we will continue bickering over a couple lives here and there while the whole system heads for collapse.
Yea… I don’t think you’re ever getting what you want at this point. If Trump has his way we’ll be set back another 50 years. You’re simply talking from a position of privilege because you aren’t getting deported. Must be nice to cosplay as cheguevara then go home and watch Netflix while America burns to the ground.
Why do you believe giving the extractors/tyrants free reign will lead to real change? What if it follows the same trend of the last 50 years of things just getting worse and worse, while a large chunk of our populace implicitly accepts the normalization of it?
As a person currently living in extreme poverty, I can’t afford to fight in a revolution. I don’t have a vehicle I would feel comfortable driving long distances, I have zero food security, and I rely on consistent access to medications I need to stay alive. I suspect these are realities people that want some sort of revolution are ignoring. A lot of people, possibly myself included, could die from secondary effects if we go that route. Personally, I would like to avoid a full on revolution as much as possible.
I understand your concerns, but a socialist president like Claudia de la Cruz signing executive orders like Trump would likely not being about a revolution in which people suffer and die
On one hand, yes she did. On the other hand, I’m still glad Claudia de la Cruz got 60,000 votes, and I hope she pushes for local elections in the meantime
Accelerationist here. Thanks for adding that word to my vocab!
Anyways, this issue is nothing compared to the war in Gaza, which is nothing compared global warming (which the Dems weren’t taking seriously)
Maybe I’ll consider supporting Democrats if they push a truly aggressive candidate. Until then, third party support from me
So your solution for Gaza is to pour gas on the fire while burning the US to the ground too. Cool.
If I give 100 fucks for climate change and 10 for Gaza, I barely give 1 fuck about deporting people. Until the Democrats focus on what’s actually important, I will not be supporting them
Yeah your attitude is objectionable and irrational on its face
Don’t engage the trolls, guys.

Why do third parties have no chance of winning? Please explain.

Glad you voted for someone who best represents you. Who could possibly be against that?
I mean if I sum up the downvotes I got across my comments in this threads…
It’s not that, it’s that your opinions are objectively just a bunch of careless garbage that harms everyone. Get a clue about reality for once.
I’m gonna print this comment and wear it as a badge of honor

Accelerationists helping accelerate global warming :(

With a different voting system, they could have the chance to transfer their vote to the democrats if their preference didn’t win.
Why are democrats saying no to these easy votes? Why arent they replacing First-past-the-post voting in states they control?
Don’t worry, now that you’ve destroyed the United States you can do anything you want. As long as it involves bigotry, genocide, and continuing to tongue Republican rectum

So, following your logic, because things are worse elsewhere, we don’t have to be concerned about what’s happening in our country?

Then grab a rifle and head to DC
I wish I was a tenth the man Che Guevara was. World would be a lot better a place with more people like him
Yea the children and families he executed don’t share your enthusiasm

Cool. She’s lost in the noise of “other” that combined for 0.42% of the vote.
On one hand, yes she did. On the other hand, I’m still glad Claudia de la Cruz got 60,000 votes, and I hope she pushes for local elections in the meantime
Delusional
