2·2 days agoMcConnell already blocked Trump’s ally from becoming the leader of the house. They voted yesterday, and the next senate majority leader is John Thune, who has criticized Trump for Jan 6 and for claiming the 2020 election was stolen. He was also against Trump’s tarrifs 6 years ago. Thankfully the senate doesn’t seem to be ending up under Trump’s control, and the checks and balances in our government might actually be working.

Or (and I realize I’m playing devil’s advocate here, but…) maybe she was being sarcastic about all of them? The fact that she referenced the outcome of the 2020 election (the number of votes Biden actually got) along with “the earth is flat” and “birds aren’t real” makes me think she doesn’t believe any of them and this is just bait.

Many of them worked for the short-lived Donda Academy, including three former teachers suing Ye and the school for discrimination, saying they were fired for raising concerns about “sanitation, health, safety [and] education standards.” Their complaint gave a behind-the-curtain look at the $15,000-a-year private school: students ate sushi for lunch every day; tables, chairs, crossword puzzles and coloring books were all strictly forbidden; students and teachers had to wear all-black Balenciaga uniforms designed by Ye; and the second floor of the school was off limits because, according to the plaintiffs, Ye “was reportedly afraid of stairs.”

A big part of Project 2025 is eliminating checks and balances, and consolidating power into the Whitehouse. That means taking power away from the house and senate, and from McConnell.

If you still don’t understand why people use IRC then we clearly didn’t make the same point, and you misunderstood mine.
People still use it for the same reason we use email… Why move an entire community to matrix if IRC works fine? Anyone who wants to use matrix can set up a bridge, anyway. And I wouldn’t consider discord a good alternative.
2·5 days agoI don’t know what military life is like, but that hasn’t been my experience as a civie. Most men I know wouldn’t go to the doctor for something mild enough that it could be treated with ibuprofen.
Isn’t 800mg Rx-only? If they’re doing it under their doctor’s supervision, then that’s their business.

Can’t recommend this enough. I found a lightly used steelcase leap v1 on Craigslist for $120 (one owner). It was the same price as what I paid for a new EZBoy office chair from Costco, but the EZBoy started falling apart after less than a year. This Steelcase is over 15 years old and it looks and feels better than the other chair did when it was new. My back pain also went away when I got it, but I got a new mattress around the same time so it was probably a combination of the two… I do sit at my desk for 10+ hours a day, though.
There are other similar chairs (eg. Herman Miller Aeron), and while I hate to recommend reddit, I haven’t found a better source for info on second hand high-end office chairs. If you’re considering a new office chair and suffer from back pain (sorry OP, I know you aren’t looking for a new chair), consider a higher-end used chair.
If you’re sceptical about exit polls you could always look up how they’re conducted…
No, your tone came across, I just started worrying about my own tone. And I think we all need to chill out. Stop looking at what’s happened in the past 10-20 years and start appreciating the progress we’ve made in the last 100, and thinking about how we’ll make the next step.
