Cryptonomicon. Neal Stephenson. I suggest this book to anyone who likes to get lost in a novel.

After the 2016 election there was a panel discussion with all the creators of TV’s biggest political dramas; House of Cards, Scandal, Veep, The West Wing et al.
All the producers said the same thing. If they’d had a fictional character say that they ‘liked soldiers who didn’t get captured’ the networks and advertisers would have demanded that the character be hated on by all Americans.
Donnie could have extorted billions form the Saudis and Putin on Inauguration Day. Lacking the guts to face off with the strong, he’s happy to grab pennies from the weak.
I had never heard any of this before.
