maybe, fabricating chips and soldering to boards doesn’t come without environmental costs either
obviously the companies won’t care about that enough to find out lol

Optical discs are extremely cheap, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s cheaper than a 128MB chip of storage.
Eternal is so intense, 2016 feels slow and boring and simple in comparison. I prefer depth over simplicity. IDK about Dark Ages though, it looks slower with less mobility/verticality
I love the Ori games! I haven’t played this game though so I guess I’m part of the problem lol
I think this type of party game could really shine as an open source game that’s continually updated forever
I haven’t played Life is Strange is so many years but these pictures still brought back memories. Great post!
It will increase over time, and I think it would pass 100 GB in less than a year, but I’m just guessing. You can help reduce this by tweaking some settings with image caching/proxying
you will only see posts/comments/upvotes that happen AFTER you’ve subscribed to a community
when you subscribe to a community it will pull the most recent posts made but it won’t pull the comments or upvotes for them, just the post itself
this is why a lot of instances use https://lemmy-federate.com/ but that will use up a lot of your disk space

You probably said the same about Reddit a few times before you ended up here, too.
That account was created Jan 29th 2025, so you’re likely correct
I feel like this would be a moderation nightmare. Instant approval to use any instance just because you have an account on some other instance? You can just self host a troll instance and start logging in from everywhere else.
Also it breaks the community feeling of an instance. And I still don’t really see why this feature is so often requested to be honest.
Looks cool, the main villain looks like someone from Hellraiser lol. I’m a bit worried this game is gonna feel slow and immobile compared to Eternal.
I meant something owned/maintained by Valve, it’s a name people can trust and would catch a lot of angry Win10 users switching
personally I don’t need any specific distro, but it would be a big boost for Valve
I’m probably gonna go full Linux, I already run it on my laptop and my closet computer lol
I wonder if Steam OS will be ready for desktops before this
Does it make sense to host your own instance of lemmy for one user?
Not really lol, but if you think it will be fun then go for it
it depends if your Lemmy instance is configured to copy and host images, or proxy images (in which case they won’t get your IP but they’ll know when you look), or neither (they get your IP if they’re running their own instance or self-hosting the image itself)
I just sent myself a PM to test:
programming.dev shows the image as hosted from retrolemmy.com
it might also be currently bugged: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/5538
It also reduces the possibility of being tracked
I think Deus Ex (2000). The gameplay is so open and full of possibilities, and the story is crazy but it works so well. It’s so replayable.
