Technology@lemmy.world•GrapheneOS patches an Android VPN bypass that Google decided to leave aloneEnglish
2·3 days agoWell, I use Fossify calendar and have no problems with it. For maps I like and use CoMaps, but the others will work well too. The map apps though use lat and long so they only put you at the block of the address but if you put GMaps WV on your phone you can put the address in it and then click share and copy the lat and long it provides and paste it into comaps and it will route straight to the address, its a couple extra steps but quick and easy. I honestly think youll realize you wish youd have switched sooner. Graphene is just amazing. Plus you can talk to them on their platforms and channels

61·3 days agoWhat apps are you looking for alternatives for? I run Graphene and have replaced everything with foss alternatives and couldn’t be happier. Except my banking app and a couple that should absolutely be the official apps, but those are installed on a seperate profile.
Also, dont use Aurora store for apps once on GOS. Its not recommended. Use Obtainium for apps straight from the source or accrescent along with GOS’ official app store.
Ahhh, ok no problem. I will check selfh.st out. Thanks!
I’ve been wanting to get some rss feeds going on my server. Would you have some good links for rss feeds for open source, self hosting, etc to get me started? Wanting to run a docker container for them too.
Ok, I don’t know anything about the guy. He may be the biggest fuckwit ever but the page is an accurate up-to-date list of distros confirming whether or not they are implementing the age verification bullshit.
There are many distros that have said they will not implement the age attestation/verification feature into the distro. Many distros are not developed/located in the US, therefore they do not have to comply. The link below is kept updated to show which OSes will or will not comply
Btw, Pop OS has said they will comply and add age attestation in case you weren’t aware.

15·30 days agoCame to Linux about a year ago and couldn’t really be happier. Will never use Windows again. Everything runs better, some things take a little work to get working but worth it in the end to avoid Microslop and I feel like I actually own my pc and not forced to do what Microshit forces. Also use GrapheneOS on my phone and its a blessing as well having no Google crap dependencies, etc.

1·1 month agoBeen using Wholphin for a few months now and its been great. Like it alot better than the official Jellyfin app, although the official app is still good too.
If you’re big into music, you should add slskd to your stack. Its not automated but you can find anything on it. It uses Soulseek servers and is p2p like old Napster, etc.
For usenet, I like SabNZBD better than NZBGet, just my opinion but maybe check it out.
Could possibly be a driver issue or something with Linux, Idk Im not entirely knowledgable of it all yet, only been using Linux about a year. I understand though, there were times where I almost considered reinstalling Windows to run something but just stuck it out until I got something to work if it doesnt. Village for whatever reason worked fine for me though without issue.
Weird, Village runs just fine on my CachyOS setup.
Do it! You will not miss Microslop. I’ve been running Linux for about a year now and do not miss Windows. There’s some learning to do and some things may take a little work to work right but thats being resolved more and more every day and its worth it. I run my main gaming PC on CachyOS and my media server on Mint and its just great. Will never go back to Microshit.

That’s true. I just don’t use it or have any desire to use it. But I get there are some still using it so, you are right a privacy focused frontend is a good thing to have.
