3·3 days agoI think the bigger problem is going to be too much support for solo play. A big part of what made EQ work was getting people into groups and guilds and the connections made in that pursuit. Without it, the game was just a boring grind, the game play and story lines were all very basic.

25·11 days agoPoll taxes are, and always have been unreasonable. Not only will it disenfranchise 40 million women, and force them to pay to vote, no matter what they pay, they will miss the mid term elections. Because the government cannot process 40 million passports or name changes before then.
I watched a guy test a bunch of blade designs. Trust me, the mess of a stuck blade can ruin an entire day of beheading.
As an individual data point an AI response is essentially worthless. What I was gauging was the change in response over time. LLMs are statistical engines with creators who put large thumbs on the scales of the statistics. By seeing the change over time, you see what they are weighting, as well as what overcomes the weighting.
I’ve been asking AI about the likelihood of civil war for most of the current administration. Not because I trust it, just as a random data point along the way. Every single time I’ve asked, odds have gotten more likely.

2·12 days agoIntegration of corporations into government is by definition fascism. At least according to Mussolini,
Communism would be the nationalization of industries into the government, which transfers their ownership to the state.
The key difference is that under Fascism, corporations are still autonomous in that they can control their own policies, and also make those policies law. Under communism industrial units are told what they can do by the state, because the state decides the law.
It’s akin to an autocratic oligarchy vs monarchy comparison, except without the birth right succession. And technically a real communist nation would have a state controlled by extremely democratic systems, though in the real world the democratic portion of communist societies have all been a show for the people under the rule of a strong man autocrat.

Most of the time for me it’s not even that the spell checker doesn’t know the word, it’s that it can’t unmangle my typing or misspelling. Teh it knows is wrong, and obviously knows ‘the’, but doesn’t even suggest it as a correction.
