Skyrmir@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Elon Musk vows campaigns against every Republican who votes for Trump’s agendaEnglish1·19 hours agoMore likely he’d hire someone to hire someone to hire some upset Iranians and give them a few RPGs. There’s huge gaps in security because the orange turd spends his weekends stinking up golf courses that are essentially impossible to secure.
AI deepfakes are all over the place right now. Or did you think the video of Trump being a rock star was real?
Skyrmir@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Senate Republicans narrowly pass Trump megabill after marathon voting sessionEnglish51·2 days agoYou know that quiet pause a dog takes before trying to bite your face off? The US keeps taking that pause. At some point a twig is going break during that pause, and we’re going to have a right mess on our hands.

Too bad the supreme court put the dagger in artists backs for AI already. It would have been great if a company would license an artists source material to make a set of variations for a limited venue. Like a company licensing a voice actor’s samples, then they get to use AI to make those characters say whatever they want, in that one movie, or that one game, based on the license.
As it is now, we’re going to end up with Spruce Lee fighting Hackie Chan movies, and none of the actors or their estates will get to say shit about it.

Just illegal tactics and methods. If an FBI agent murders someone, they’re going to get arrested for murder, even if they were arresting someone at the time. Having an overriding authority, doesn’t make them immune to the law.

CPU is getting WICKED hot (up to 100 C) while playing games. is there any software that can underclock/undervolt it?English7·3 days agoIf you can’t reach the plugs, most likely the air around them is recycling through that space getting hotter. Put a box fan over there and see if your temps improve.

Skyrmir@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Velázquez Leads 'No Masks for ICE Act' Rally at NYC Field Office | Common DreamsEnglish16·3 days agoI’m curious if a state passed a law requiring everyone officially detaining any person in their state must have official identification, badges and picture ID presented. Could state police arrest ICE?

Skyrmir@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Can AI run a physical shop? Anthropic’s Claude tried and the results were gloriously, hilariously badEnglish25·5 days agoBoilerplate code is where it rocks. The syntax for that API function you use once every 5 years and no way remember, it’s got you covered. It can knock out helper functions like a boss too. Nothing complex, that takes too long to fix, but the text filter and type conversion stuff is quicker than typing them out yourself.
Skyrmir@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•New 2028 Democratic front-runner surges ahead of Kamala Harris—pollEnglish7·4 days agoI suspect that’s a sampling bias due to sample size. He probably has low support though. It’s kind of crazy, but if the republican party wasn’t insanely racist, and actually social/fiscal conservative, they would probably take a majority of the black vote. The black community supports gay rights, because they’re acutely aware of minority rights issues, not because they really accept gay people.
Taken as an overall group anyway, obviously there’s a whole range of views among the community.
Skyrmir@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•New 2028 Democratic front-runner surges ahead of Kamala Harris—pollEnglish6·5 days agoIt really doesn’t have any correlation to 2028. If anything it just shows the current mood of the electorate. Probably more informative if there were multiple surveys to compare movement against.

So yes there are a lot of unique biomes.
Ahhh! High school flash backs, NOOOO
Skyrmir@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it expected to drink alcohol on first date?English8·19 days agoThe rule is to do what you’re both comfortable with, and see if those things match up. If you’re not up for drinking, then don’t. And recognize that social drinking might be more important to the person you’re interested in.
Ok, now I want one. Pi powered CV to identify fire, and maybe figure out a way to identify what type of fire.
It’s morally wrong to make them feel the need to hide. What someone decides to do with their free speech is up to them.
