  • I have

    • Unraid back up it’s USB
    • Unraid appears gets backed up weekly by a community applications (CA app backup) and I use rclone to back it up to an old box account (100GB for life…) I did have it encrypted but seems I need to fix that…
    • Parity drive on my Unraid (8TB)
    • I am trying to understand how to use Rclone to back up my photos to Proton Drive so that’s next.

Music and media is not too important yet but I would love some insight

  • What do you think when you see cars from VW, Benz, BMW, Ford (especially considering Henry Ford’s anti-Semitic views), GM (Opel), Fiat, or when you notice tires from Goodyear, Firestone, or Pirelli?

It’s worth noting that many big Japanese companies like Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Yokohama, and Datsun (Nissan) also supported Imperial Japan during the war.

All of these companies had some level of involvement with the Nazis or the Axis powers in World War II.

As for Tesla, many owners bought their cars before all the controversies surrounding Elon Musk became mainstream. I get the criticism directed at him, and as a Tesla owner myself (I bought mine used before things got really wild), I’ve even thought about removing the Tesla logo from my car.

I’m just not sure if that viewpoint is entirely fair.

  • I think there’s a healthy discussion about technology. The fact that people are open to discuss their concerns about AI and the ramifications of the technology is exactly what is needed in a discussion. Technology for the sake of technology is not needed, that’s the play book these giants don’t seem to realize. They are rewarded for technology and their ability to destroy and wreck the power grid without having to pay restitution or taxes. It’s capitalism when in fact taxpayers are constantly the ones footing the bill with grants, tax levies, or holding the bag with bad contracts and needing to fix the problems these corporations leave in their wake.

  • I mean 1-2 hours a day is a lot to begin with. At 6 kids are doing homework and learning to read.

I’m definitely pro gaming and my son and daughter today maybe an hour or two a week and usually it’s Animal Crossing. We spend much of the time reading what is written (they are French first so this is English exposure). I rather they game than watch nonsense TV.

For Christmas my brother bought them an Android handheld with retro ROMs. That is much more difficult to control and my kids do get warped into bingeing.

Maybe recommend Omh it’s a great iOS game that’s educational.

  • Before I clicked the link, which was a questionable life choice, I’m wondering what on earth you’d be doing. Was this person actually just chillin’ in the backyard and thinking “damn, this Miller Lite is going through me too quickly to bother getting up and going back inside.”
