Bravo! Couldn’t have said it better myself. Having been involved in bodybuilding and gym culture for 4 years now, there’s a lot of overlap between that and Nofap and other manosphere/right-wing nonsense; online that is. I almost fell down this rabbit hole myself.

  • In 2006, when I was about 6 years, my mother, sadly, suffered a miscarriage. It devestated our family. This also marked a turning point in my life as my parents divorced not long after. It’s stories like these that make me wonder what would have happened to my dear mother after her miscarriage if the same fundamentalist theocrats were in power then. Would they have arrested her? Would she have died under the same atrocious conditions that Ms. Barnica had to suffer? What will happen to my wife if, goodness forbid, something similar happens to her? This story highlights why, five days from now, you MUST vote. We have make that incidents like these don’t repeat. Don’t just do it for your sake. Do it for the sake of those dearest and nearest to you.

  • Any of you remember Kitzmiller v. Dover? It was a case that essentially ruled that teaching ID/creationism was a theological doctrine and thus couldn’t be included in the biology curriculum of schools across the country. While the issues here at not the same (teaching creationsim vs mandatory bible studies), they have the same ideological underpinnings. Unless we’re talking about Sunday school*, schools must remain secular institutions where discussions of religions are from a neutral perspective in regards to the humanities. As to regards to a hypothetical Supreme Court case: considering how ultra-conservative the Supreme Court has become in recent years, I fear that they might side the theocrats.

    *Are those still a thing?
