I’ve been reading through some of your blog articles, and I wanted to ask if there are any other platforms you’re active on? I wanted to have a more in depth conversation but lemmy might not be the best place for that. I still think that some extrapolations of the theory need work, but the core is pretty solid and fairly in line with my beliefs. Would definitely be interested in getting more context to better inform my path in life going forward.
This is very interesting but feels deeply uncooked, needs some time in the oven to cement itself a little bit more
Unprocessed palm oil. Not the stuff you get in stores that looks like a regular vegetable oil. The red stuff that solidifies but has a low melting point.
Any of the Horizon games, genuinely some of the most beautiful games I have ever played. Zero Dawn has some downright beautiful winter environments. And while I’ve barely started Forbidden West, that game is a step up from the from the first game from the very first moment you get control of Aloy. So pretty! I recommend watching the trailers to see more
Fair enough, me and my family been going through a lot of that recently and while I think it’ll be worthwhile in the end, the process is quite hellish. No pain no gain I guess.
You’re a really cool person. Very few have a story this interesting, wish there were more like you in the world
Wrong? Is this about me using the word wrongness? In retrospect it was poor word choice but I did not mean to offend. I just meant that the situation is more complicated than what OP may have initially thought. You know what this explains the downvotes.
Honestly Bazzite does great with pretty much everything I’ve had it do. Some things were difficult in the beginning (I’ve been on it since nearly the beginnimg), but these days everything just works. It’s really matured. I’d also like to make an honorable mention for VanillaOS which would be my second pick for general stuff and my number one for development and sysadmin.
Distro choice really shouldn’t matter but unfortunately not all systems are created equal. There’s tradeoffs to everything. What you get by having the latest features you sacrifice in compatibility with older hardware. The stability benefits you get from waiting update packages may cause you to miss out on needed performances improvements or bug fixes. Tradeoffs to everything. Immutable distros handle most of those problems fairly elegantly, but lose out somewhat when it comes to ease of package installation.
I hope in the future you get to have a perfect experience friend.
This comment is tough because in its wrongness, it reveals a greater problem with Linux gaming. I think you’re right that it’s probably not ready outside of SteamOS. But it’s not correct to say it’s not ready in general. They are several distros that have all the latest features for modern gaming, the issue is you weren’t recommended even one of them. Pop_OS is currently outdated since they are working on their new desktop and mint is on the Ubuntu LTS version meaning they are both significantly behind. The community needs to take that into account when recommending things. That’s the reason I only recommend Bazzite. Cause it’s the closest to a SteamOS experience.
Also black here 👋🏾
I think it was Bleach on adult swim at night as a kid after all the other stuff like robot chicken and aqua teen hunger force ended. Could also be DBZ though
I just fundamentally disagree, after watching hundreds of anime and just lots of media in general, there is definitely tropes and excessive repetition of stuff, but the specific tropes referenced here are objectively not prevalent in every genre of anime. Perhaps Isekai and high school slice of life romance but not super prevalent outside of that. And most newer or older anime don’t have it either, there was a very short band of time where what he mentioned was prevalent.
As much as I agree with saying that for Naruto, hard disagree on One Piece, that is one of the best series ever made at least in my opinion. Why do you think One Piece does the same thing over and over again, the story and world have evolved so much I find that hard to believe.
It’s crazy how all you described was just a subsection of anime, specifically slice of life high school romance animes and then expanded that to everything else. I mean even calling anime a genre is weird since it’s just animated content with a specific range of art styles, the story can be anything. The simping and sexualization is definitely an issue but that comes with anything that is a entertainment. Could I ask you what you consume nowadays aside from anime? I’m curious since I wanna know the gap you perceive between that and anime in general.
Gonna be very blunt here, if you mean to say that that comment is “authoritatively and confidently” saying that is misinformation to “undermine another person’s comment” I have to tell you are in a very small minority that interpret that comment that way. Most people whom OP is intending to reach would read that comment as having one claim, one anecdote, and one explanation.
The claim is “macos is stable”, the anecdote is “months of uptime” and the explanation is “powered by UNIX”. And as the main question here is whether the explanation (which I will say is presented as a fact) is said in a manner that represents authoritative blind fanboyism or a casual statement. To preface, I think it’s very clear based on my past interactions as well the upvote downvote spread that it is a casual, but factually incorrect statement. OP has experienced months of uptime and stability and attributes this to macos being UNIX under the hood.
While this is a wrong assertation, shaming is the incorrect response if the goal is to correct this misinformation. Shaming does very little to change minds and often leads to people doubling down. You will have no success with this approach. You must inform positively and confidently. Approach them from a perspective, “oh they just don’t know, let me help them.” Rather than “oh here comes the fanboy again, need to shame this guy”. The first approach has had success time and time again and builds community. I assure OP did not seek to undermine the above comment nor did they post misinformation out of blind fanboyism they merely lack knowledge and that’s how nearly everyone else in this comment chain read it.
I think just in general you may have an issue with taking things at face value and being blunt, which is not an uncommon issue. I experience this problem myself and my siblings have it worse than me though we worked past it by just learning more about language and talking to people about what they really mean when they say things. Do you happen to be neurodivergent? That’s the case for us anyway.
I would like to inform you why your comment’s tone was problematic cause most of the issues are not word choice, it’s structuring. Your comment intention may have been to be amiable, but to average person your comment reads as snarky and with an air of superiority. This is mainly because the comment it is replying to does not present a view with strong conviction or to argue, they stated something and happened to reveal another belief. They talk about their uptime with macos and happen to reveal they think macos is UNIX.
If you had say said “Oh you probably shouldn’t say macos is UNIX and here’s why” and then proceeded to give explicit reasons and then ended the comment, it would have ended there with many upvotes. It’s the presence of the “Well, um ashkuallyyyy…” structure in your comment along with the “That’s not how this works pal” that makes it rude. It’s like you’re shaming them for not knowing instead of seeking to inform, it’s not your usage of the word pal, it’s the argumentative negative stance. You could have ended with “I hope that helped you learn more pal!” And everything would have been fine. Positive vs negative. Structure matters. Anyway I hope that helped you learn more pal!
Despite many people in this thread saying KDE, GNOME has been recently been financed to work on accessibility with the STF fund contract work, so major advancements in accessibility are likely to hit them first. They are also looking into getting more contract financing for it. KDE might be fairly equal right now, but I foresee GNOME getting more stuff sooner. Especially in regards to screen readers and just general app accessibility with changes to Libadwaita.
