More vegan.

What a curious phrase. Not just for the substitution of vegetarian for vegan, but for the use of “more”. More vegan. I thought it was binary. Are there partial vegans? I thought that wasn’t allowed.

Because my diet includes more calories and nutrition from plant matter than meat most days, am I more vegan now?

I’m no bovine biologist or veterinarian. I was confused as to why artificial insemination would be done with a fist and forearm up the ass.

Like all journeys of enlightenment, initial answers only raise more and deeper concerns. Why aren’t they wearing scrubs? Why aren’t they wearing to-the-shoulder medical gloves? Why are they smiling? Why do 30% of the cows smile and groan with pleasure? Why do ranchers form close affectionate bonds with one cow, their favourite?

I have a more profound understanding now - of the addage “Ignorance is bliss”.

What’s shocking is that so many morons keep falling for it over and over again.

Inflation is calling. They wanted to let you know that a very very modest homeowner in an unfashionable part of town in many cities around the world, is over 1 million. The people squeeking by aren’t the problem. Aim higher.

I sympathize, but respectfully disagree. Whoever wrote this should get fucked by an angry mob hellbent on vengence.

That’s not a counterpoint. It’s THE point.

Right and wrong are not absolutes. The world is not black and white. People of good conscience are always asking themselves if they did right and how could they have been better. Life is not a purity test. The “good people” aren’t without error, mistakes and regrets, sin. They just try overall to do more good for others and our systems than for themselves.

If you never ask yourself if you are a good person, you most likely aren’t.

Defeatism is not a desirable trait.

No confusion here. I believe central banks, responsible for inflation are also prone to “creative accounting” and narrative adjustments to wash away the guilt and blame for their failures. It’s not any different than the police investigating themselves and unsurprisingly finding nothing wrong.

The basket of goods is cherry picked, the methodology is dubious at best, frequently taking reasonable economic assumptions and abusing them beyond legitimacy. You can’t put that much power in the hands of people and not expect corruption.

At my most generous, our current measure of inflation doesn’t measure what people think it does, yet we use it every day as if it did like COLA riders. The suitability of inflation calculations and the applications is a sprawling topic for another post at another time.

All the rage? I accidentally bought a 15lbs bag of green beans not knowing how awful black tea notes are. It’s totally undrinkable and I’m just holding onto the bag until I can fertilize my garden in the spring. I was so shocked at how disgusting it is. I can’t even dark roast it to death.

What on earth can make this a thing?

On one end of the coffee spectrum, I’ll take a blueberry, nutty, peachy any day. On the other end I’ll drink actual black tea before I drink coffee with a black tea profile.
