Been off Spotify for over a year now after being on for about 15 years (2008-2023 I think). Trying to prioritize buying music from contemporary artists who are not big. Not too sure about the best places to buy from though, after Bandcamp was sold and laid off a bumch of people. Where does Qobuz or 7digital stack up in terms of paying the artists?

I find joy from creation. For a long time (2010s) I barely created anything, just consumed. Now I try to do a lot of different things. 3D modelling, game creation, music composing, writing, coding. My skill level doesn’t matter, as I am not dependent on these skills as a source of income (apart from coding to some extent), and the lower my skill, the easier it is to take some big leaps doing these activities, and that progress can yield happiness. I like having several different things as well, as if I lose motivation for one thing, I am not stuck between having nothing to do and forcing myself to do something I don’t really want to.

The other thing is nature. Slowing down and walking in the forest, in the mountains etc. Listening to a waterfall, to the birds etc. Fresh air. Good stuff.

How so? I have many feeds oeganized under different groups, and that works well for me. What functionality would you have wanted?

Could you elaborate on what you mean by that?

First they pioneered USB-C-charging for phones, and now they invent USB-C-charging for peripherals! Mind blown, truly visionary stuff from Apple.

I have automatic redirect (with the LibRedirect-plugin in Firefox) of any YouTube-links so that they open in Freetube. Set up on my phone as well, and it works nicely.

Did not show up on my work laptop running Win 11.

Was going to be my solution as well, bjt Syncthing-Android just got discontinued.

For installing plugins, I am fine with it, but would not want any telemetry being sent somewhere without my knowledge. The data collected should stay on my server.

Ah, I see. What kind of disk usage are we talking about over e.g. one month? I am (at least for now) not necessarily interested in long term storage (but the data hoarder in me might quickly change that).

Ok. The way I’m set up with my partner is to have two calendars, one on Nextcloud (me) and one on Google Calendar (my partner). We subscribe to each others calendars, and I’m also formatting it the same so it appears to be one. However, we cannot edit each others entries, but for our use case that is not needed, we just need to share certain events between us. So while this is not Proton, I believe the same is doable there.

I can see how this is not a very practical with multiple people (but potentially doable, it has been set-and-forget in my case), and if you need the ability to edit each others entries, then it is a non-starter.

If you want to move away from Google apps, why keep using Google Calendar? Maybe someone has a suggestion for a way to work with it if you say what your continued use case for it is and what kind of limitations you are working with.
