You individually don’t have to do everything. Drop the one least important holding from your life, and let the company know why you did it
Nobody has to die. A fuckton of us just have to do without Disney+ for a bit.

- Cancel any planned trips to Disney’s theme parks. Halt any purchases of Disney memorabilia. Try to do these cancelations over the phone or chat. Tell them it’s because you don’t want any of your money going to the Disney corporation so long as Kimmel is off the air
- If you live near a Disney Store or the Disney Parks or a Disney/ABC corporate office, organize a group of friends to picket in front of the building/property and encourage employees to consider calling in sick (don’t be mean to them though, they may be in a tough place)

I am a tiny investor, not a pro, not really even that knowledgeable of an amateur. But for the few companies that I do have some investment in, yes actually I do keep an eye on how they are doing. Every quarter I can spend ~2 minutes checking if things look basically good and if things are going the way the management said.
When things are off, that’s my opportunity to do a quick reality check whether this still is the best place for my money.

Just that distro-where-a-theme-would-do is something I see a lot of and people might wind up tackling a larger harder problem than they need to and not spending as much time & effort on the stuff they intended to.
And, a lot lot lot more people can easily download & appreciate a theme than move distros (though some perverse individuals make a habit of the latter)
Like a lot of Linux distros, this should have just been a window manager theme and maybe a helper app
Absolutely no sense bringing in stuff like init system and depmod and C compiler version when what you care about is UI theming

7·5 days agoTBH it has not really been an issue for me. My biggest real beef is just that I prefer just having regular text files in /var/log instead of using journalctl. And I feel like it’s a Microsoft-style monolith that flies in the face of the Unix philosophy that I honor and revere.
Use any distro you like! Just make sure it is without systemd

Basically, no matter what your opinions are about the individual, for the first week afterwards if you open your mouth in public it is only to express condolences to the family and to condone all violence. PERIOD, no “but…”
Why? Because we are humans with emotions and feelings.
A week or so after, THEN you talk about how violent rhetoric leads to violent actions.

TBH I do it because I try to avoid being the asshole boss who everyone else has to accommodate, and instead be the pluralistic, humble boss that shows appropriate deference and respect to the employees that actually do the work.
