Surely China can’t be fine with the US poking around their government computers? Or are they?
I don’t understand how another country can use another hostile country’s closed operating system for sensitive material.

Yeah tesla is much worse. More pointing out that founders have so much more financial ties to their companies than regular employees that their actions become extensions of the company. Its why founders have to be much more careful of their behavior than even regular CEOs who a company can let go and claim to have gotten rid of the problem. Founders generally won’t give up their share of the company.

Same could be said of Tesla, but the profitability of the company provided funds for Elon to donate to who he wanted.
I don’t think business and founder separation is really possible.
This happens occasionally and have to be patient for a fix to come out. Sometimes takes a week or longer. During those times I just use freetube as a rss feed and use it to open videos on Firefox.
Pretty crazy amount of plugins I need to make default youtube palatable though like sponsorblock, dearrow, and blocktube. Freetube just simplifies it when it works.

Yeah I doubt my chinese MiniPC came with official Windows. Had recommendation tp go through initial set up offline. Not that I kept Windows. I wiped it and put Fedora on it.

Yeah, while it is draw for majority of people it is the reason I stayed away from it because the concept of social media brought to you by TMZ sounded like a nightmare. But, those who want to feel closer to celebrities or get the opportunity to go viral love it.
Might be overlap between those who like sharing personal things on social media, and those who don’t see a problem with things like meta glasses due to finding the concept of not putting your entire life on social media bizzare.

I got a 3DS and DSi not too long ago to play games on, so I’m more likely to go backwards and get old tech to play timeless classics than stream new games.

If you want to get the game wouldn’t you want to avoid further trailers to avoid getting stuff spoiled?

Just saying moving away from Sony to PC doesn’t prove Sony’s point, since they are removing physical knowing people will stay on their consoles and buy their digital games.
Last thing they want is for people to move to PC, since they went as far as to discontinue future exclusives there. They don’t care about digital games on PC. Just digital for their console.

Prove the point that if a system is digital consumers prefer to do it on hardware that is open and can be assembled from parts you choose, run any programs you want, and run any OS you want?
Versus locked down hardware that doesn’t let you install competing storefronts, programs, and is able to implement paid multiplayer because the hardware ia so locked down?

Yeah, decades of compatibility PC games have across hardware over the years is hard for consoles to match.
Even when they have backwards compatibility they are stuck to the performance and resolution cap from the previous gen if the devs didn’t go back to improve it like Red Dead Redemption 2 still being capped at 30. Or Bloodborne.

Steam and Epic run on open hardware where people can install it on devices they assembled themselves, and run it on different operating systems.
Difference is open hardware versus an ecosystem that tries to lock down their hardware, prevent installation of unapproved programs, and prevents competing storefronts.

I’m glad I dont know who he is and I will continue to not know him.
These days it seems like the internet is more pleasant the less influencers you know, and most aren’t worth knowing any further about.
I think the past where people’s awareness of public figures was much more distant was a healthier time. Like knowing the famous athlete or actor, but nothing further about their lives and not feeling like “you know them” because they called our your username or liked your comment and not being able to send them a direct message.

Episode 10 of Violet Evergarden is the only time I cried while watching anime.

I know I’d just bring it in my bag with it turned off and not take it out until class is over.

It is nice to use third party apps again. I like summit on android.

Redit is Fun app was the best times. When they killed off third party apps it pushed me into a lurker, since I refused to use the official reddit app and didn’t want to go to the effort of patching old third party apps to get them working.

People who are still using meta products might lean towards the demographic that isn’t as educated on it. And the top 3 scam platforms according to the article are meta ones. Which either leans older or younger these days with them appearing to have the same level of tech literacy.

Banning valuable subs like piracy, emulation, and roms would get at least those people. The subs that provide valuable guides and resources like that would have to get purged for users to be forced to seek out alternatives.
I don’t think China would be naive to think a US company would actually comply. Even regular people don’t believe claims of respecting privacy and totally not spying on you assurances.
