I’ve spent so much money on nail polish since I started transitioning. It’s more of a macro transaction really.

1·4 months agoIs there evidence that that’s actually what happens and not just e.g. spontaneous remission? But even if it’s true, if a drug works as well as placebo then we usually conclude that it doesn’t work.
Also, people who know that someone else is praying for them actually have worse outcomes according to one of the most comprehensive studies ever done on this.

1·7 months agoYeah I don’t know what’s up with that, but I’m not the only with this issue and funnily enough running the game with Proton fixes it.

25·8 months agoI’ve been gaming on Linux on both Deck and Desktop for a while now and I like it, but I also have to admit that it’s not without issues. Thanks to Steam and Proton, most games really do “just work”, but some, especially non-Steam games or related tools like launchers, plugin/mod managers can cause issues and may need more effort to get running, which can be difficult for people with little Linux experience. I also recognise that not everyone wants to have to deal with that and I think that’s fair. And I get the impression that many Linux gamers underestimate their own skills and how much the average non-tech person would have to learn to be able to have a similarly good experience.
Updates can also just break games. I’s happened to me with Trackmania when the stupid Ubisoft launcher suddenly wouldn’t work anymore, or Blizzard games like World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2, which started having graphical issues. Slay the Spire, after a patch, always launched on the wrong screen and refused to let me move it to the primary one.
Disclaimer: I’m on a non-gaming focused, but popular distro (Fedora).

18·9 months agoIt’s absolutely not the same thing. I used to play a lot as a kid (still do) and I have no problem with today’s kids doing the same. But I want them to be able to enjoy games without constantly being manipulated into spending as much money as possible.
And it’s not just about kids either, I think these predatory tactics affect adults too.
It’s not a moral panic, the problem is capitalism.

“Preparation purist” is wrong. You don’t boil the tea, you steep it in hot water. For some teas, like black tea, you usually boil the water before pouring it over the tea, but other types of tea use water that isn’t as hot (e.g. around 70-80°C for green tea).
Also, if you actually want to be an ingredient purist, tea must be made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis (or a closely related species).
Technically it’s an alphabet, not a language (excluding the keys with actual words on them and not just letters). The letters are called Tengwar and in the lore they’re Elvish letters, but you can use them to write in other languages like English. Even in universe they’re used for other languages like on the inscription of the One Ring, which is in Black Speech.

I think this is the best approach. I’ve created a short alias for my trash tool and also aliased
rmto do nothing except print a warning. This way you train yourself to avoid using it. And if I really need it for some reason I can just type\rm.If you want to train yourself even more effectively you can also alias
rmto runslinstead :)
