‘Be nice’ is a great idea in concept but when it comes down to concrete justification for post deletions and bans, it just becomes a general tool of oppression

Simply disagreeing with a political position has triggered rule #1 bans and removals across several subs, Gaza is a great example of this.

If we just want to keep pretending that mods are any different here than reddit, then they need to be held to a better degree of responsibility when it comes to their abuse of overly broad definitions.

Do you ever worry that maybe it’s just you?

[Edit] I mean “just you who thinks this”, and therefore there may be an issue with your perception of others, I’m not trying to say “just you are an arsehole”.

Imagine you are on the freeway, and a car comes on your lane going in the wrong direction, and going fast! And then another one, and another one, and then you realize:

      They must be hundreds!!

Yes I legit did think for many years that it was just me, and basically kept to myself and was slowly dying of social isolation

Then I actually saw a therapist and unloaded the whole thing and she pointed me in the direction of a few interesting studies about how narcissists prey on autists and it’s made a lot of those interactions make a lot more sense the targeted harassment I have been experiencing.

I know exactly what you mean (and I’m very familiar with the behaviour in real life), but I can’t say I’ve personally seen it on Lemmy. I know a lot of it depends on what you’re subscribed to or federated with, but rather than “100% arseholes” I felt Lemmy was more like “95% pretty nice people”.
