This has been featured around the Innernet recently, so why not here? Personally, my biggest skepticism is that I suspect it actually needs a mix of dark soy sauce and a much lighter sauce that floats on top?

I dunno though, maybe the ‘trenches’ are so deep that it works with simple soy sauce? Pretty dang clever, either way.

Yes. I’m not sure why this is hard to understand. The deeper areas are darker because they hold more sauce.

Deeper areas are darker? Oh yeah, then explain why a flat swimming pool has dark patterns on the bottom! Checkmate, translucency believers. /s

My personal skepticism is because I am now skeptical that any image that seems too good to be true is AI generated. And the sauce lines look almost artificially clean and complex with the shrine.

Like the shrine’s reflection off of the lake, getting progressively lighter towards the bottom of the plate too? Impressive.

Sorry, didn’t realise that it called for a major genius to get involved.

I had a couple last night, lol.

My point being that visually, the trenches didn’t seem quite deep enough to create that effect. Which might be perfectly wrong, of course. But I also found such debate a bit tiresome at that point in time, in which “tieewarbgjkas ukhasdf sadfjk jksafsdf” seemed like the way to proceed. 🙃

🤣 I get it. I can’t say I disagree with the approach. I just wanted to make sure we didn’t need to send a mobile stroke unit or something.

That or cardiovascular event of choice is indeed likely how I’ll go. (super-high genetic cholesterol / triglycerides)

I guess it was fun for a moment to fake-act it out. Sometimes black humor is what gets one through certain moments of life…

Agreed. I am the guy making inappropriate jokes in the receiving line of someone’s wake. Laugh or cry, baby… When those are the options, I’ll always choose to laugh.

Soy sauce would work like an ink. Here’s a picture of watercolour inks, each column is one ink, with each row representing how much ink is soaked in.
