review by an American: the aesthetic is right, but all the details are wrong. would definitely eat it, would never have thought to make it. fascinating to be on the other side of how other cultures must feel about our attempts at their cuisine

I’m sure someone somewhere has made that exact sandwich before, but not on purpose. that’s the kind of thing you make because you’re stoned or broke and it’s all you’ve got right now

American here, @FauxPseudo@lemmy.world. Don’t listen to this.

That shit looks great. Looks like a sourdough bun from Jack in the Box. I don’t eat a lot of food like this, maybe once or twice a year, but that there looks killer. Good job!

Another American here, sure it looks great, but that wasn’t the point of the comment. It’s that it’s not quite American food. I love malt vinegar as much as the next Anglophile but we don’t really use it here except for fish sometimes, and sure I’d fuck up a hot dog sandwich but I’ve never heard of one outside of a struggle meal.

Poor melted cheese and ranch dressing over it, then we’re closer. Also, this is clearly the kid’s meal.

Looks like a regular hamburger bun but toasted and used inside out so more like a grilled cheese outside. Kinda brilliant tbh
