Isn’t the stuff explicitly designed for kink generally safer and more comfortable? I was under the impression that using just any old rope would lead to some unpleasant friction burns.
If it actually is, maybe, but average sex shop stuff is just run-off-the-mill product with a kinky sticker on it. Depending on material it may be conditioned, but that’s still cheaper to do on your own and also makes it a more personal tool, which I like.
Friction burns come more from bad rope handling than bad quality / material. It’s not supposed to rub over skin continuously (but can be used consciously for the sensation, of course).
