That’s probably so it’s easier to see them instead of being hidden on the outside edge of your foot I’m guessing?
Why not in the center of the socks then?
Because the way you probably raise your foot toward you when putting on your socks ends up with that spot pointing toward your eyes.
As to how that helps before you’ve actually got the sock on, you’ll have to ask the designer.
This guy socks.
I dare you to get milder than this.
Seems like a good design though?
Honestly it would be more mildly infuriating if they both weren’t on the inside of the foot so I’d say you’re good.
What’s infuriating about that?
Ok, but why do they even need side indicators? I thought socks could go on either foot.
I also have socks with side indicators. They’re designed to fit the feet, so the entire socks are asymmetrical. Theoretically you could go by the pattern, but when you’re pulling socks out of a hamper it’s a lot easier to match them via letters which you know are always at the ends. It’s pretty convenient and makes it impossible to match them incorrectly, so I think it’s a good design choice.
the entire socks are asymmetrical
They are not. they are just mirror symmetrical
