Ooo thanks for the reminder!

I joined reddit in 2011 or 2012. Was quickly made a mod of a support subreddit for a medical condition I had. I filled up the sidebar with resources and posted every day trying to help people. Even sent money to people who couldn’t afford physical therapy.
I built up a mod team of wonderful people. We traveled to meet each other IRL a few times and even went to Washington D.C. together to advocate for more research funding for our condition.
We took over abandoned related subreddits and even created new ones where we saw a need.
All this to say I really put effort into bettering Reddit, building communities, and making it a cozy place with helpful resources.
The API shit happened. I never lost RiF because I just used the cracked versions of it, but what got me was how the Admins were threatening their mods. Up until this point the subreddit you built was yours. Entirely yours. You could do whatever you wanted on it because you’re the one who built it. Mods could run rampant and ban everyone and the admins wouldn’t do anything. It sucked when it happened to you, but that was the tradeoff of Reddit. At least your subreddit was yours. The admins that day showed that wasn’t true.
If the subreddit wasn’t yours then what was the point of doing all that effort? You were just an unpaid employee now.
I stepped back a bit but didn’t leave. My subreddit still needed me. I still had Rif working. But I stopped curating the sidebar and wiki.
Then Reddit allowed people to start hiding their post history and made decisions that caused my mod toolbox to stop working without replacing those tools natively on anything except their shitty app.
Without my tools I can’t moderate efficiently so I stopped. Without seeing post history I refused to rely to people. Bots destroyed a subreddit I enjoyed despite like 50 reports from me alone. So I stopped going on Reddit. Only one mod remains active of our subreddit and she’s on the verge of quitting too.
I’m focused on here, bluesky, and discord now. I still have to use Reddit for a niche gaming community but I just lurk now, and only go maybe once a week versus how I used to post 20 times a day.

Mine was pretty bland too. “Has 1 cat” and “reads fantasy”. I wanted to get insulted.
It was roaches.
Which doesn’t sound healthy since a lot of people are allergic to roaches.

Reminds me of Antinorn and the Norn torture websites for the game Creatures. Lots of people were trying to get the guy to stop.

But what are you going to do about it right at this moment? Presumably if you’re like me you already know who you’re going to vote for, or at least certainly who you’re not voting for. Anything major will pop up in some feed somewhere so you don’t have to listen to whatever dumb shit Trump said on Tuesday.
I get a daily digest from NPR and that’s enough. A 15 minute browse then I’m done with the “news” for the day.
Ecco The Dolphin: Defender of the Future - originally for Dreamcast then the PlayStation 2. Loved that game. It was so bizarre but done well.
I wrote an English paper on this game as a tie in for fourth wall breaking.

Mm, chicken periods
The egg probably helps too. Like a shitty egg wash.

Our airfryer took about a week of daily use.

Cats can’t digest mice. That’s why they vomit it up.

I just wish we had functional public transport.

Ask them why they have a bathroom door.

It has already happened to you in the period before you were born. It is the same experience.

Maybe he thought it was a weed and that he was helping?
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

It’s going to be like everything where where you will own nothing and be forced to pay a subscription.
Morning commuter subscription: $500 a month. Oh but wait, it’s demand based so $700 a month depending on your area.

All the non-bubble shaped cars have such shit visibility too to the point that cameras are necessary now.
I couldn’t either because I had undiagnosed ADHD.
Once I got the meds I was able to tolerate it. Try drinking coffee when you study to see if it helps.
Other than that I really limited my study time. I stopped for the day after two hours no matter what and kept it to one subject per day, and rewarded myself with something I wanted to do after.
